Introduction
Over the past 25
years, the Town and Regional Planning Department has worked with a
number of international agencies and consultants in developing Sabah’s
planning system.
In recent years,
two agencies are the following are worth noting : DANCED (Danish Cooperation for
Environment and Development) was a Denmark government agency advising
the Sabah
Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) Project (1996-2001)
which led to the production of the ICZM Spatial Plan in 1999. In fact,
it was based on one of the ICZM Project’s recommendations to the Sabah
Government that a 3-year project to prepare district and local plans was
started in October 2001.
